Patent Statistics Overview:
- Total patent publications this week: 1,461 (Early publications: 819, Ordinary publications: 642)
- Patent examination decreased by 33%, standing at 186.
- Patent grants saw a decline of 13% with 728 applications.
Breakdown by City – Early Publications:
- Delhi: decreased by 24% (172 to 130)
- Mumbai: increased by 12% (162 to 183)
- Chennai: increased by 56% (302 to 474)
- Kolkata: increased by 18% (27 to 32).
Ordinary Publications by City:
- Delhi: 2% decline (171 to 166)
- Mumbai: 10% increase (129 to 142)
- Chennai: 50% increase (191 to 288)
- Kolkata: dropped by 2% (47 to 46).
First Examination Report (FER) Distribution:
- Delhi: 62
- Mumbai: 43
- Chennai: 62
- Kolkata: 19
Publications Under Grant by City:
- Delhi witnessed a 9% decrease (315 to 286)
- Mumbai saw a decrease of 14% (173 to 148)
- Chennai observed a drop of 18% (282 to 229)
- Kolkata reported a decrease of 14% (76 to 65).
Applications Based on ‘Applicant City’:
Of the 1,461 patent applications, the top contributing cities are:
- Delhi: 63
- Mumbai: 49
- Pune: 67
- Bangalore: 47
- Chennai: 184
- Hyderabad: 30
- Kolkata: 8
2024 Yearly Patent Overview (1st Jan – 14th June, 2024):
- Early publications: 15,531
- Ordinary publications: 21,443
- Total applications published: 36,974
- Total grants: 46,380 (Delhi: 18,915, Mumbai: 8,734, Chennai: 14,370, Kolkata: 4,361)
- Applications examined: 7,595.
Industrial Design Statistics:
- 453 designs registered this week, decreased from 1,011 the previous week.
- Total designs registered in 2024 : 23,269.
