Samsung R&D Institute India – Bangalore has been honoured with the National Intellectual Property Awards, 2015 in the category – Top Indian Public Limited Company/Private Limited Company/Indian Subsidiary of Transnational Corporation. This annual IP awards event is organized by the Indian Intellectual Property Office (IPO) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Through the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, the IPO and CII confer the annual National Intellectual Property Awards on outstanding innovators, organizations and companies in the field of Patents, Designs, Trademarks and Geographical Indications on the occasion of World IP Day every year.
Samsung, with its much publicized IP battles with competitors, has had strong emphasis on creating an innovative product line. This has also been evidenced by the number of patents that the company has filed in the last several years. In the past year alone, Samsung received the highest number of granted patents in India. Mr. Jason Dongwon Kwak, the Managing Director, Samsung R&D Institute India – Bangalore, said “We are extremely grateful for this recognition by the Government towards our sincere efforts to upgrade standards in the fields of patents and innovations. Relentless focus on innovation is at the heart of Samsung’s operations and this Award will give us further impetus to focus on discovering new technologies, products that will open a new world of possibilities”. The company was also conferred with the World Intellectual Property Organization Award for Innovative Enterprise.
