The recent amendment to the Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) is the first ever amendment to WTO accords after its founding in 1995. Subject matter eligibility is one of the most rapidly evolving issues in Patent Law. The US Courts have avoided defining what qualifies as an abstract idea. Most of the software related inventions are being considered patent ineligible based on the Alice case.
