Patent Agent Examination 2025

Eligibility Criteria
Trade Marks Agent Examination
As per Rule 144 of the Trade Marks Rules, 2017, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:
- Citizenship: Must be a citizen of India.
- Age: Must be at least 21 years old.
- Education: Must be a graduate from any university in India or possess an equivalent qualification. Additionally, they must have passed the examination prescribed in Rule 148 or be an Advocate under the Advocates Act, 1961, or a member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.
Patent Agent Examination
According to Section 126 of the Patents Act, 1970 (as amended), candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Citizenship: Must be a citizen of India.
- Age: Must be at least 21 years old.
- Education: Must have a degree in science, engineering, or technology from any recognized university in India or possess equivalent qualifications as specified by the Central Government. Additionally, they must have passed the qualifying examination prescribed for this purpose.
Examination Format
Trade Marks Agent Examination 2025
- Paper-I: Objective type, two hours duration
- Paper-II: Descriptive type, three hours duration
Patent Agent Examination 2025
- Paper-I: Objective type, two hours duration
- Paper-II: Descriptive type, three hours duration
Qualifying Marks
The qualifying marks for both examinations will be the same as stipulated under Rule 148(2) of the Trademarks Rules, 2017, and Rule 110 of the Patent Rules, 2003 (as amended).
