Diwali – the festival of lights, is one of the most brightest and sacred festivals in India. The festival transcends religion, especially when it comes to crackers and lamps! This day symbolizes the victory of spiritual goodness over darkness. There are many theories associated with Diwali such as the rising of Goddess Lakshmi from the sea, the happy return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile, killing of Narkasura by Lord Vishnu, birth of Goddess Kali and many more. As part of festivities firecrackers are set off to drive away evil, oil lamps are lit, flower garlands are made and sweets are shared. On this special day, we bring to you information on a few patents related to firecrackers.
An invention as disclosed in US 1861893A titled “Firecrackers” relates to an improved form of fire crackers which substantially comprises of two series of crackers axially set up against each other with their fused ends leaving a small space between them and enclosed in a closed space formed between the fuse ends of the crackers so that they are completely protected from damage and also kept free from the moisture of outer air. Can you guess what modern firecracker this patent is talking about? No? Well, it’s the famous “100 wala” (carpet firecrackers)!
Further, another invention as disclosed in CN 202614100U discloses a safe and environment friendly firecracker burning pyrotechnic device which consists of parallel grooves, notches, a bracket connected with hooks for hanging firecrackers so that the firecrackers are not set off in the hand or on the ground and the residue after the explosion of firecrackers such as confetti and soot are being collected in the parallel grooves thereby being environment friendly and safe. This cracker is definitely made keeping India in mind!
Yet another invention as disclosed in CN 201059919Y relates to an environment friendly firecrackers wherein the utility model is composed of sounding powder balls, an ignition fuse and package paper wrapped into a shape of a string of a fire cracker and the ignition fuse is arranged at one end. This utility model is advantageous over other firecrackers as it significantly saves the use of paper and effectively reduces the residual materials produced after discharge.
In the age of mobile technology, how can mobile firecrackers remain out of the list? The Invention as disclosed in CN 00210005 and titled “Firecrackers remote-controlled lighting apparatus” describes a firecracker remote control igniting apparatus, which is composed of a wireless remote control emitter, a receiving amplifier, an oscillation voltage booster, a high-voltage discharger, a gas storage tank, a guide tube and an electric control switch.
Finally, here is an invention that does away with all that noxious sulphur in the air and replaces it with the aroma of sandalwood. You heard it! Sandalwood! The invention described in CN 200410022910 and titled “Explosive with aromatic for environmental protection safety firecrackers” claims an aromatic environmentally safe firecrackers drugs, characterized in that the aromatic green firecracker safety of drugs is a combination of potassium perchlorate, aluminum powder, perlite powder and sandalwood powder made of four components, pharmaceutical components in weight such as the following: 450 to 550 grams of potassium perchlorate, aluminum 250 to 350 grams, 100 to 250 g perlite powder, sandalwood powder 8 to 15 grams.
Diwali represents the awareness of inner light within a person when ignorance is pushed aside by understanding and enlightenment. May this festival of lights be a festival of joy, peace and prosperity for all our readers.
