Patent Statistics Overview:
- Total patent publications this week: 1,034 (Early publications: 449, Ordinary publications: 585)
- Patent examination decreased by 26%, standing at 169.
- Patent grants saw a rise of 44% with 920 applications.
Breakdown by City – Early Publications:
- Delhi: decreased by 87% (264 to 34)
- Mumbai: decreased by 4% (146 to 140)
- Chennai: decreased by 30% (360 to 252)
- Kolkata: decreased by 8% (25 to 23).
Ordinary Publications by City:
- Delhi: 8% increase (211 to 228)
- Mumbai: 9% decline (217 to 196)
- Chennai: 57% decrease (333 to 140)
- Kolkata: dropped by 41% (36 to 21).
First Examination Report (FER) Distribution:
- Delhi: 82
- Mumbai: 30
- Chennai: 44
- Kolkata: 13.
Publications Under Grant by City:
- Delhi witnessed a 40% increase (229 to 322)
- Mumbai saw an increase of 16% (154 to 180)
- Chennai observed a rise of 68% (195 to 329)
- Kolkata reported an increase of 56% (57 to 89).
Applications Based on ‘Applicant City’:
Of the 1,034 patent applications, the top contributing cities are:
- Delhi: 74
- Mumbai: 34
- Pune: 28
- Bangalore: 37
- Chennai: 144
- Hyderabad: 32
- Kolkata: 6
2024 Yearly Patent Overview (1st Jan – 28th June, 2024):
- Early publications: 16,775
- Ordinary publications: 22,825
- Total applications published: 39,600
- Total grants: 47,935 (Delhi: 19,466, Mumbai: 9,068, Chennai: 14,894, Kolkata: 4,507)
- Applications examined: 7,994.
Industrial Design Statistics:
- 607 designs registered this week, increased from 139 the previous week.
- Total designs registered in 2024 : 24,015.
